Our sea cucumbers are not bottom of the ocean feeders like most sea cucumbers. Instead, they are suspension feeders, they consume plankton that are floating in the ocean, therefore they are cleaner as they are not ingesting pollution from the bottom of the ocean. And they get far better nutrients from their food source than other scavenger species.
In addition, they are made of a skin where most of the collagen and saponins are found, and also a muscle meat that is full of minerals and contains the highest level of antioxidants (carotenoids). In the food markets of Asia the meat is most commonly known as “coral clam”, a premium product in the market.
