ECOSYSTEM: RACE TO ZERO WASTE
ECOSYSTEM: RACE TO ZERO WASTE
We work hard to support healthy lives, healthy families, and healthy oceans.
We are committed to maintaining a healthy and sustainable marine ecosystem by supporting ocean biodiversity through a conscientious approach to Sea Cucumber harvest and to investing in unconventional approaches to value creation in undervalued goods.
We are focused on creating value for all parts and pieces of sea cucumbers that land on our shores. Each year we dedicate resources for research towards the development of goods that will help us achieve our goal of eliminating waste in the value chain. Examples of this are our launch of a new business, Bêche Nutraceuticals, a company that uses whole sea cucumber to manufacture a variety of products, some of which are still in R&D phases, and our Panasea pet nutrition booster made from parts of the sea cucumber that are full of good nutrients but have little to no demand in the global seafood food-service markets.
Our team includes dedicated marine scientists who consistently monitor stock status data and species metrics. With the help of a sea-bottom camera and catch-effort controls, we carefully monitor the sea cucumbers environments to ensure the long term sustainability of the ecosystem. We partnered with the United Nations Association in Canada and Canada Green Corps on a project to gather information in order to figure out how much sea cucumber we can harvest and still keep a healthy population of this superfood in our ocean.
While regarded for its health benefits for centuries in Chinese medicine, scientists, academics and researchers from top universities and institutes around the world are now studying and reporting on the beneficial effects of Sea Cucumber in pre-clinical and laboratory settings.
The following is a small sampling of the research findings on the impact of all types of Sea Cucumber compounds globally:
